Are electric scooter batteries safe?
Battery fires and explosions are very much in the media these days, and for some good reasons: they’re getting more prevalent and like plane crashes they are dramatic and often horrific.
Electric scooter lithium-ion batteries are generally safe as long as they are used and maintained properly. However, like any other type of battery, there are some safety considerations that should be taken into account.
- Use the right charger that is specifically designed for your electric scooter. Using an incompatible charger can result in overheating, which can be dangerous and potentially cause a fire.
- Don’t charge overnight or while unattended.
- Store and charge your battery in a well-ventilated area, away from flammable materials. Avoid exposing the battery to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight, which can also cause overheating and potentially lead to a fire.
- Regularly inspect your battery for signs of damage, such as swelling or cracks, and replace it if it appears to be damaged.
Our suppliers adhere to minimum product safety standards, and Teverun batteries are either from Korean manufactures like LG or Chinese cells that have undergone rigorous testing and/or have proven reliable over time.
